Simply one of the most beautiful examples of Bill Gibb’s Art Nouveau inspired designs, this soft black leather waistcoat features his trademark bumblebee motif, both embroidered on the collar and on enamel buttons. The curiously collectable piece is edged with yellow cotton double stitching and lined with shot purple satin. This is a design icon that will appeal to collectors and fashion lovers alike.
The rounded romanticist 1970s collar graduates to stand up at the back of the garment, which looks super cool. Side darts also make for a seriously flattering shape. Though marked size 14, it would probably be best for a size 10-12 today. However, the adjustable back buckle means this could also work for a size 8. Approx. 19 inches long at the back, this rare find comes in excellent, museum quality vintage condition and is possibly from Gibb's first solo 'Nature' themed show in 1972 or shortly thereafter.
