Each one of these unique Kyomaï cuffs is up-cycled from a vintage Jacquard silk obi belt, sourced in Kyoto, and handcrafted in an haute couture atelier in Reims, France.
Every cuff tells its own story. This design features with waves, flowers and phoenixes and has a black suede lining. The legendary bird, houou, appears when the world is prosperous and peaceful – an auspicious mythical creature introduced to Japan from China during the Asuka period. This would make an unusual good luck gift.
Presented in a pouch to protect it when not worn, each cuff is delivered in a Paulownia wood case, traditionally used in Japan to store obi and kimono.
Measures 6cm diameter and 5cm long and weighs 60g. Case measures 10 x 10 x 7.5 cm.
